Range of medicolegal reports

One of the primary services that we offer is as an expert witness in cases where there have been problems related to adults with neurological disabilities or conditions.  Our chief chartered neurological physiotherapist Gerry Harlow is available to offer a range of treatments for these patients but also to offer his expert opinion for legal cases.

As someone registered with the Medicolegal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MLACP), Gerry is able to provide a range of reports for both claimants and defendants.  The reports will also be impartial and accurate, concise and robust with an honest opinion based on his extensive experience.  All of the reports created are done so in accordance with Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules; Experts and Assessors, Guidance for the instruction of experts in civil claims and Practice Direction 35.

Where the expertise comes from

Gerry offers this expert witness service from two viewpoints.  One is as an extensively trained expert in his field and the other is from someone who actively works with patients who have a wide range of conditions.  This means that he has day to day experience on the care and treatment of these conditions and can combine knowledge and experience to provide a range of expert witness reports.

Some of the examples of the kinds of treatments available at Neurotherapy and therefore that we can offer expert witness reports regarding include:

  • Neurological physiotherapy

This involves working with the principles of neuroplasticity – rewiring or rerouting neural pathways in the brain to help deal with conditions that have been impacting the patient for as much as several years.  It is ideal for disease, trauma and nervous system disorders as well as to improve function and reduce symptoms from the condition.

  • Aquatic physiotherapy

Formerly known as hydrotherapy, this is a safe and popular way to help patients recover from injury or strengthen their bodies.  It takes place in warm water and can help with issues such as balance and coordination, injury recovery or to assist with activities that would be painful to do on land.

  • Functional Electrical Stimulation

Functional Electrical Stimulation or FES is a specific treatment to deal with a condition called foot drop.  Patients in Bournemouth and around the area suffering with it find they have trouble listing the front of their foot and drag it, creating problems walking.  This treatment is designed to help by stimulating nerves and activating muscles.

Expert witness service

With a wide range of experience behind us from FES treatment and aquatic physiotherapy to splints and orthotics, we are here to help with the conditions that affect you.  Or if you have had treatment elsewhere and feel something has gone wrong, our expert witness service can help clear up your case.
